FOR RISING TEACHERS
The Next Black Educator Workforce (NBEW) program is a dynamic pipeline program that places credentialed Black educators in racially isolated communities.
In the 2020–21 school year, Black students made up
15%
of the population in U.S. public schools.
Black teachers only make up
6%
of the U.S. public school teaching workforce.
The educator pipeline program "TheNext Black Educator Workforce” aims to address these gaps by creating a comprehensive, culturally relevant pipeline that places credentialed Black educators in these communities.
We focus on empowering Black teachers to lead classrooms, embed ethnic studies, and advocate for social justice, ensuring that the next generation receives an education rooted in both academic excellence and cultural understanding.
NBEW program, in partnership with the University of the Pacific, offers aspiring Black educators a pathway to earn a single-subject teaching credential and a Master's in Education.
We’re tackling three critical challenges:
Participants engage in a collaborative, supportive learning environment via our cohort model.
Real-world teaching placements prepare educators to be effective from day one.
Continuous mentorship and professional development to encourage growth and resilience.
Apply now to join a movement that values professional development, focus on engagement and growth of Black educators.
Project Sankofa is building an ecosystem where every Black educator has the tools, support, and pathways for success.
